Assist! Exactly How USC Provides Students With the Academic Support They Need
Moving away to college may be an exciting yet overwhelming process. New friends, new food, new living arrangement— it definitely takes some adjusting.
Probably the biggest ‘new’ though is your academic experience. Besides the increased autonomy you will experience, the classes themselves is more challenging (it is college, after all!) And, the course sizes might differ from those you had in highschool. Whilst the average class size at USC is 26 with students to faculty ratio of 9 to 1, some courses you take will be larger.
Any larger classes are split up into what is called ‘sections’ led by a graduate pupil, allowing students to discuss and fundamentally clarify any product that was taught in lecture. New material will be taught by a USC faculty member; graduate pupils act as a resource to aid students better understand the material and answer any remaining questions. Both graduate pupils and faculty members hold workplace hours throughout the week, which provide the opportunity for students to interact they may have with them one-on-one and address any lingering concerns.
But what if you nonetheless still need extra assistance? That’s where our Center for Academic help is available in. At USC, we wish to make sure that students have access to the help and resources they need in order to thrive throughout their time here. The Center for Academic Support offers students a number of services, including:
-Tutoring and Learning Assistance
-Learning Enrichment Workshops (i.e. time management, note-taking, writing papers, etc.)
-Student Support Groups
-One-on-one academic support counseling

At USC, we strive to provide you with tools that will provide you with a better understanding of just what it means to become a applicant that is competitive. We have tailored our campus presentations according to your needs. We offer a few presentations to get more familiarized with our campus.
The first presentation you should consider is the Meet USC system. If you want the absolute most comprehensive summary of USC, this 3.5 hour system is it. The Meet USC is held twice a day every monday, wednesday and friday. It starts by having a one hour presentation by an admission representative and it gives an introduction to USC, detailed application information, and an overview of financial aid. If you’re happy, you may see me giving this presentation to your group! Soon after, you’ll be led by way of a student tour guide on a 90-minute walking tour of our campus. These tour guides are also students that are current they will be able to offer more insight on what it’s like to be a student at USC. This is often a time that is good ask questions about housing, academics and the social life on campus.
