SPOTLIGHT ON EBEREUCHE CHINASA LILIAN

My name is Ebereuche Chinasa Lilian, I am from Imo State, Mbaise to be precise. Growing up was a tough one, The stigmatization, the neglect from people and peers was one thing you wouldn't want anyone to go through. I wouldn't say it has stopped but what can I say is I have decided to live  my life to the fullest irrespective of what people think of me because at the end of the day I didn't create myself so why worry about something I can never change.

My mum has been my pillar of support, she made me see the beautiful side of life, she would ask me to go out and mix with other children, take me out on events in order for me to build that self confidence and  charisma. She always calls me by my native name (Chinasa) you don't need to stay indoors because you don't want to hear people call you names. she will say that those names won't break me instead it will make me strong and prepare me for the challenges ahead. So one day on my own I took my toys and went down stairs to play wow I was crowded with kids who wanted to play with me and my toys at the end they followed me to my house from that day they would come looking for me at home .

I got that inspiration and decided to live my life like every other dark skinned child. I said to myself who has condemned me when my creator has not condemned me, that I was not going to allow frustration get the better part of me. I could remember when taking pictures  was a very difficult thing for me because I was afraid that people would laugh at the way I looked.  I needed that self confidence, and I would say I was able to build it and now I am a graduate of business administration.

I've  meet few people along life's journey who adore me, who don't give a danm about my skin colour, whose friendship has kept me going, who  looked  beyond the not having a melanin issue and I would say life itself is worth living for. I am happy to be called a wife in three months time. So let's stop the stigmatization, and neglect.  What we crave for is nothing but acceptance because we were created by one God and in one paradise will we all return whether melanin or no melanin
